Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the blog for COP 24 from the point of view of nine American  high school students! We are all in our senior year of high school at a school in Apple Valley, Minnesota called the School of Environmental Studies. We will be leaving Minnesota on December 1st and we will come home on the 15th.  We will be reporting on what we learn while we are attending the conference which is held in Katowice, Poland this year. Not only will we be reporting on what we learn, but we aim to reflect on that insight, build onto it, and use it in our everyday lives outside of the conference.

For those who do not know, this sector of the United Nations, and this specific COP, focuses on climate change, and just about every impact that it has on the planet and those who inhabit it. There will be focuses on mitigation, adaption, environmental impacts, impacts on social justice, human health and the health of the planet. Delegates will also be looking at agreements made during past COPs and how countries will be held accountable for the agreements made. We will have the opportunity to learn about these topics and many more, and we hope you will follow along.
